Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately insurance companies do not consider quality of care when they provide reimbursement to physical therapy clinics. This often comes at the cost of shorter visits, patients being handed over to an aide/assistant, therapists seeing 15+ patients in a day with minimal breaks, inability to schedule patient appointments in a timely manner (it could be weeks, when patients want to be seen for their new pain NOW), and ultimately provider burnout. In some cases insurance companies may limit treatment to one body part or will provide a cap on the number of visits allowed.

In order to provide the highest standard of care, Colorado Athlete PT does not contract with any insurance companies. The mission of this business is to better serve the community by seeing fewer patients per week, having longer sessions, and getting patients in as soon as possible.

Good things are worth paying for!

Can I see a physical therapist without a physician referral?

Yes. In the state of Colorado, Physical Therapy is direct access. Meaning you can come straight to a PT without seeing a physician first. This can save you both time and money!!

Be sure to check with your insurance company if you plan to submit for reimbursement, as some may have referral requirements. Without this they may deny your claim.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. The first cancellation will be forgiven, as life happens and that is understood. After that, any cancellations within 24-hours will be charged a $50 fee and no-shows without any notice will be charged a $100 fee.

It takes a lot of work to prepare for your individual session and an empty spot in the schedule could have been used by another patient. Please be respectful.

The best way to cancel is through your patient portal on the online booking site, you can also email at lara@coloradoathletept.com.

What if I can’t find a time on the schedule that works for me?

Please send me an email and let me know of a date/time that works best for you and I’ll do my best to see if I can accommodate you!

Can I submit to my insurance company for reimbursement?

Yes. Colorado Athlete Physical Therapy is considered an out-of-network provider, and all necessary documentation can be provided for you to submit a claim to your insurance company.

However, not all insurance companies provide out-of-network benefits, and reimbursement amounts vary based on your specific coverage. Check with your insurance company regarding all details if you are expecting to be reimbursed.

Please note: Colorado Athlete PT is not a Medicare provider. If you use Medicare as a primary or secondary insurance, you will not be able to submit a claim.

If you would like a referral to an outstanding clinic that does accept your insurance, don’t hesitate to ask for a list of clinic names.

Can physical therapists order imaging (xray/mri)?

Yes. PTs are able to order imaging if they feel it is medically necessary.

How should I prepare for my first visit? What should I wear?

Fill out all intake forms PRIOR to your first session, these are available on your patient portal through the online booking site.

Bring any other pertinent documentation, imaging, scripts, etc with you.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement. The LoHi Athletic Club has changing rooms and lockers (bring your own lock) should you need to bring clothes to change into or want to securely store your personal belongings.

A small parking lot available behind the building (off of Umatilla St), otherwise street parking is available.

How many times do I come?

The phrase my PT students hate the most… “it depends”. Some find benefit 1x/week where we can check in regularly on progress, update exercises, and provide more frequent manual therapy techniques. Others only need to come in 1-2x/month. Many come more frequently at the beginning and then as they see improvement we space the sessions out.
